Clear and simple interface, well-thought-out structure and powerful functionality. Everyone’s favorite task scheduler is back – recognizable and updated!
Here are the core principles behind Things.
1. Write down everything that comes to mind
Don’t keep tasks in your head – write them down as soon as they come to mind. Tasks are added to Things using a keyboard shortcut (which works from any program) or using Siri.
2. Sort tasks by context and projects
For each big goal, create a project, then fill it with specific tasks that can be completed in one sitting. Additionally, projects and tasks can be grouped into areas, such as “Work,” “Hobbies,” or “Health.” Review all areas regularly and don’t abandon them.
3. Plan your time wisely
The OS calendar tasks and Things tasks are displayed in the program as a single list, so you can quickly create a schedule for the week and not miss anything. For cyclical tasks, it is easy to set up a repeat at the right time.
4. Cut out the unnecessary
In the morning, look in the "Inbox" folder, select tasks for the day from the unsorted ones and send them to the "Today" section. Also, the tasks that you have already set in today’s schedule earlier will be automatically pulled into this section. That’s all! You don’t need to look at any more lists. Get to work calmly.
5. Structure tasks so that they are easy for you to understand
To further organize your tasks, mark them with your own tags. Tag them with “Work” to write your quarterly report, or “Household Chores” to take your jacket to the dry cleaner or order cat litter. You can create as many tags as you like, and you can also search for the ones you need and filter lists by them.
THINGS YOU WILL LOVE THINGS FOR
1. Things do not interfere with work.
It has a clear, well-thought-out, human interface where everything is in its place. No intrusive special effects, uninvited pop-ups or menus with hundreds of items. Just you and your tasks.
2. Things is focused on your tasks.
In a list, they look like short items that you can check off with a check mark. But just double-click any task and it will open up on your screen as a blank white sheet of paper with all the information you need, including notes, clarifications, step-by-step instructions, tags, deadlines, and reminders.
3. It has a lot of nice little things
What is the Type Travel function alone worth – the most transparent search and navigation through sections. Or the date parser that correctly understands you when you type “tomorrow”, “in three days” or “on Tuesday”.
4. This is one of the best-made apps for macOS.
Things supports all macOS system features: the Touch Bar, a widget for the Notification Center, the Share feature, Handoff mode, data exchange with the built-in Calendar and Reminders applications, and automation using AppleScript.
5. Your own option.
If you survey twenty people, each will have their own list of the most useful and successful things in Things. That’s why we publish user reviews on our website: thingsapp.com
WORK WHERE AND WHEN IT’S CONVENIENT
