The Author app gives you complete control over your authoring process with advanced citation copy, an expanded glossary, advanced views, excerpts, and more.
When you’re ready to share your work as a PDF, you’ll get an automatically generated help section. You can also publish posts to WordPress.
Key Features:
Quick-Cite
Copy from PDF into the Reader companion app and paste as a full citation into Author
Insert BibTex or DOI from an academic PDF to automatically turn it into a full citation
Quickly and easily cite books, web pages, and YouTube videos (at a specified time if desired)
Citations can be easily moved from one document to another by clicking on the link and selecting Copy Link.
Advanced Automatic Export Options
Add a links section
Create a title page
Number of headings
Specify how citations should be displayed: Author’s “Date” or Author’s “Number”
Makes printed links online
Possibility of attaching Visual-Meta
WordPress Publishing: Supports Multiple Accounts and Attached Images
Advanced Views
Dynamic View: Think freely, without being limited by traditional columns of text. Mind map, concept map, and write down thoughts directly inside the author
Instant Selection: Pinch your fingers together on the trackpad to zoom out on text and see only headings. Spread your fingers apart to see more or fewer headings.
Advanced Search: If you want to see only suggestions with a specific keyword, select the keyword cmd-f to hide all suggestions that don’t have the keyword. Click a suggestion to jump to it, press cmd-f again or ESC to return to the normal view.
“Magic” fields: Double-click the fields (in full-screen mode) to write down any notes. If there are also notes in the document, they will be highlighted in bold, and you can double-click to see all their occurrences.
Note: These fields do not follow your document as you scroll, they are separated so that you always have space available for taking notes – therefore, they do not look like traditional fields.
Cuttings
Anything you cut (but not copy) is remembered by Author. CMD-shift-v to see what you have
Cut and choose what to paste
Modern and minimalist
Makes Author fast and gives you auto-saving and everything else you’d expect from a modern native MacOS app, including iCloud Drive (syncing with Author iOS in the future)
cmd-/cmd+ to zoom all text, you can’t change the size, color, or font of specific text in Author, only bold and italicize it, as Author is a writing app, not a layout app, so you’re less unproductive with text. The app is easier on the eyes as it supports macOS’s native dark mode
Includes full citation information and internal links to them. Author is minimalist, but not “discounted”
ESC to switch to and from fullscreen mode. This seems like a small thing, but is very useful when switching between focused writing and interacting with multiple documents.
A Liquid Product
